Beate (from Germany) obtained her first degree (Diplom) in Biology at the Julius-Maximilian-University Würzburg and her PhD at the Free University Berlin. Her research focuses on the AMP-activated protein kinase and endothelial nitric oxide synthase in endothelial cell signalling and in cellular crosstalk in metabolic syndrome/diabetes (within the framework of CRC 834).
